How to get on the Do Not Track List
Privacy Protection from Online Marketers
A proposal from the Federal Trade Commission would create a "do not track" list that would prevent online marketers and other agencies from tracking consumer behavior online and marketing to people who opt out. Similar to the "do not call" list, it would prevent entities from following a person's browsing habits, which can be used for marketing and remarketing purposes.

Notes and Special Information
Special note: A federal do not track list, if approved, may not be applicable offshore or in other circumstances, so it may make more sense to protect your online privacy with seperate browser settings. As always, a "Do Not Track" tool or list is completely ineffective against companies who are acting illegally in the first place, so you should be very careful with your browsing habits and cookie settings or you may be tracked for commercial or other purposes.
